How much saltwater has Texas injected into disposal wells?
Short answer: Texas disposal wells have put about 140.16 billion barrels of water underground through 2025, and the trend points to about 197 billion barrels by 2035.

What does the chart show?
It adds up every barrel injected into Texas disposal wells, year by year, using Railroad Commission of Texas records. Through 2025 the total reaches 140.16 billion barrels.
How was the 2035 number made?
A curve was fit to the 1980 to 2025 history. It matches the past very closely (R squared of 0.9953). Running the same curve forward gives about 197 billion barrels by 2035. The year 2026 was left out because it is not complete yet.
Is the pace slowing down?
No. The curve is still bending upward, which means more water goes underground each year than the year before.
Why does it matter to operators?
That is a lot of water already in the ground, and more is coming. Every barrel passes through a tank first, where oil can sit on top.
What can you control at the tank?
Oil floating on top of the water in your tanks still leaves on a vacuum truck, and that costs you money every haul. The Freedom Tool skims that oil off inside the tank, captures richer vapors, and cuts down on vacuum truck trips. It has no moving parts. Contact us to see if it fits your site.
