What happened?

On September 9, 2026, Enbridge announced it would buy the crude oil business of Tallgrass Energy for $2.55 billion in cash.

What is included in the sale?

The deal covers 75 percent of the Pony Express Pipeline, which runs about 1,050 miles and moves around 460,000 barrels a day. It also includes 51 percent of the Powder River Gateway, about 240,000 barrels a day, and roughly 8.4 million barrels of storage across 9 terminals.

Where does the oil go?

Crude from the Bakken, the Powder River Basin and the Denver Julesburg Basin flows to the hub at Cushing, Oklahoma. A planned expansion called PXP2 would raise Pony Express capacity to about 515,000 barrels a day by late 2027.

Does this change anything on the lease?

Big pipeline and storage deals keep moving, but on the lease the quiet loss stays the same. Oil that sits on top of the water in your tanks still leaves on a vacuum truck.

What can you control at the tank?

Oil floating on top of the water in your tanks still leaves on a vacuum truck, and that costs you money every haul. The Freedom Tool skims that oil off inside the tank, captures richer vapors, and cuts down on vacuum truck trips. It has no moving parts. Contact us to see if it fits your site.
