How many saltwater disposal wells are there in Texas?
Short answer: 25,112 Texas disposal wells had actually injected water at least once through 2025, and the trend points to about 28,260 by 2035.

How are the wells counted?
A well is counted in the first year it actually injected water, meaning its H10 report shows volume above zero. Getting a permit alone does not put a well on this chart.
How fast is the number growing?
A straight line was fit to 1990 through 2025 and it matches closely (R squared of 0.9925). The years 1982 to 1989 were left out because they reflect the start of H10 reporting, not real growth. Projected forward, the line reaches about 28,260 wells by 2035. The partial year 2026 was left out.
Why does it matter to operators?
More live disposal wells every year means more water moving through the system, and more tank batteries where oil still sits on top of that water.
What can you control at the tank?
Oil floating on top of the water in your tanks still leaves on a vacuum truck, and that costs you money every haul. The Freedom Tool skims that oil off inside the tank, captures richer vapors, and cuts down on vacuum truck trips. It has no moving parts. Contact us to see if it fits your site.
